An accounting firm has joined Westfield State University, three of its trustees and the state's higher education commissioner in asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed against them by former university President Evan Dobelle.
CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported that O'Connor and Drew P.C., out of Braintree, filed a motion to dismiss last week.
Their 17-page memo stated that Dobelle's lawsuit fails to establish that any of last year's audit of the former president was false.
The audit, which was released last August, showed that Dobelle and administrators routinely violated the university's travel and credit card policies.
Dobelle said he reimbursed any improper expenses but resigned in November, three weeks after he was placed on paid leave by the school's trustees.
