Investigators say arson was the cause of Norcoss fire

Posted: Updated:

Investigators say arson was the cause of a fire in Norcross on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to Highland Walk apartments at 4:15 a.m. Sunday morning to find flames on a ground-floor unit, an apartment directly above the ground-floor unit and the attic.

No injuries were reported.

According to investigators, a witness saw someone throw an object through the bedroom window of the ground-floor apartment before the fire started.

"This intentional act could have caused serious injury or even death to the occupants who were asleep inside the apartment at the time," said Gwinnett Fire Captain Tommy Rutledge.

"We are fortunate that no one was hurt and that firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire."
