APS board has lots of new faces at work

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Voters put six newcomers on the nine-member board which made for busier than usual ceremony with lots of family friend here for support.

The newcomers beat out incumbents last fall with help of voters calling for change.

After the swearing in ceremony, it was right work for APS Board members.

The first order of business was electing officers, including a new board chair Courtney English and Nancy Meister as vice chair.

"Fresh blood is always good. We've been through a lot over the past four years. I think the folks we saw a lot of activity in this election," said English.

The new board has the big task of finding a new superintendent.

CBS Atlanta News asked English about that.

He said the board planned to get on it right away and would shoot for a timeline of less than 6 months.

English replaces Reuben McDaniel as chair.
