BRENTWOOD, TN (WSMV) -

Accusations that a school janitor was peeping on students at a Brentwood elementary school shocked a lot of parents, but not everyone was surprised.

One mother says she complained about the same man a year ago.

"I kind of thought, 'I knew it.' You know how your gut just, it just sat wrong with me when my daughter told me what he was doing," said mother Tammy Myers.

Myers said she made a complaint to Scales Elementary School Principal Molly Dalgarn last year that Victor Alvarado was acting inappropriately around her daughter, who was eight years old at the time.

"Running his broom over her feet and giggling and singing Justin Bieber songs while he was doing it, and then he had made a purring sound," Myers said.

The mother was disturbed that it had been ongoing, and that the kids were comfortably around him.

"He was a friend to a lot of the kids. A lot of the kids actually liked Victor. He would walk around if he found little tokens and give them to kids, or stickers, he'd give them to kids or things like that," Myers said.

Myers said she even saw Alvarado's suspicious behavior firsthand when she went to have lunch with her daughter one day at the school.

She said Alvarado kept circling their table and ignoring other parts of the cafeteria.

"She got up from the table to get ice cream and he got up and approached her and said something to her, and she just kind of giggled. And I said, 'So, what's so funny?' And she says, 'Well, Victor just kind of said something funny to me.' I said, 'What did he say to you?' And she says, 'You've got a hot mama,'" Myers said.

That was the final straw for Myers, who said she went to principal Dalgarn and reported Alvarado's behavior and made sure it was documented.

"She did contact me the next day and said she spoke to him. He was apologetic, and he wouldn't do it anymore. I said, 'Great,'" Myers said.

Now, a year later, the same custodian was allegedly found in the crawlspace near a girls' restroom at the school.

"She goes, 'In our bathroom, there were two tiles missing.' She said, 'I felt like I heard a ghost up there or something, so I was always afraid to use the bathroom, because I thought there was a ghost up there,'" Myers said.

Another parent has since spoken out, expressing the same behavior her child noticed a year ago.

"He was just doing a lot of the same things he was doing with my daughter. He was kind of following her around. He was sweeping under her feet making her uncomfortable, and just generally putting himself in places he shouldn't have been to be near them," Myers said.

Alvarado worked for the janitorial service GCA Services Group, Inc. but has since been fired.

Williamson County Schools superintendent Dr. Mike Looney told Channel 4 News on Monday all of the employees contracted through GCA have to pass background checks.

"The gentleman in question had a complete background check. No indication that there was a problem in his history or has ever been arrested or anything like that, so it caught us off guard," Looney said. "It's very emotional, and it's a very tough subject, because Scales is a great school and we have a stellar reputation and Ms. Dalgarn's done an amazing job there."
