Micro moon visible again tonight over Atlanta

Posted: Updated:
Super moon versus micro moon Super moon versus micro moon

The so-called micro moon will be visible one more night tonight, as the full moon phase comes to an end.

It gets that nickname because Earth is at apogee with the moon, or its farthest point away. Basically the moon actually "looks" smaller than a typical full moon. By the numbers, it will look about 12 percent smaller.

While you're out looking up at the moon, be sure to check out the planet Jupiter. The planet will shine brightly just below the moon in the eastern sky between 6-10 p.m.
