Family hopes billboard will bring answers in son's death

Posted: Updated:

A family is fighting to get answers after their son was shot and killed eight months ago. Police still do not have any suspects.

The family of Patrick Cotrona, an east Atlanta man who was shot and killed while handing over his wallet during a robbery on May 25, 2013, has secured enough money to put up seven billboards to remind people of the killing.

The family raised money online and family and friends helped pay for the billboards.

One billboard, located at 1756 Candler Rd. in Decatur, includes sketches of the two suspects police believe killed him.

Atlanta police believe the killers are the same men who committed two other robberies that same night.

Kate Cotrona Krumm said the billboards are the least her family can do to help find justice for her brother.

"When something so tragic happens to someone you love so much, it can be very motivating. And we just aren't going to rest until we find out who is responsible," said Krumm.

Capt. Paul Guerrucci with the Atlanta Police Department told CBS Atlanta News that the tips in the case have not led to the killers but the case is still open.

"If people don't have information toward the murder, they may have information in regards to the robberies, which may lead us to information on the homicide," said Guerrucci.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered through Crime Stoppers for anyone who has information leading to an arrest and prosecution.

If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact Crime Stoppers to provide an anonymous tip at 404-577-TIPS.
