A truck driver from Georgia faces three negligent homicide charges in a six-vehicle crash in North Dakota last summer that killed three men and injured three other people.
Vernon Wright, of Hiram, Ga., could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. His attorney did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.
The crash happened the foggy morning of June 21, 2013, on U.S. Highway 2 about 3 miles east of Stanley. It involved a tanker trailer loaded with crude oil that was driven by Wright. Authorities say the tanker exploded and all of the other vehicles burned.
Authorities allege Wright's driving contributed to the crash.
Killed were 41-year-old David Maskey of Minot, 26-year-old Patrick Wilkie of Wahpeton and 23-year-old Tyler Fischer of Minot.
