TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Federal government will not let Arizona require proof of citizenship from voters in national elections.

Arizona and Kansas asked the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission to allow them to require that a person be a citizen to be able to vote on Federal forms.

The commission denied the request.

The two states do require proof of citizenship for state elections.
