Mental health first aid training begins at PCC

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Pima Community College is offering free training designed to help people spot mental health problems in others.

The classes are called mental health first aid.

PCC is teaming up with Community Partnership of Southern Arizona to make the training available free of charge.

It consists of an eight-hour course in identifying, understanding and responding to those with mental illness.

The training is part of a series of initiatives to move forward from the mass shooting in Tucson on Jan. 8, 2011.
