After nine months of construction, the Pinewood Atlanta Studios are set to open with five sound stages, just outside Fayetteville. The internationally-renowned studio is known for housing the productions of recent James Bond movies, Harry Potter, and Prometheus, to name a few.
"This is the kick-start of what we see as a huge film center for metro Atlanta," said Matt Forshee with the Fayette County Development Authority. "We think Fayette County is going to be right at the epicenter."
He said the new studio also presents a unique opportunity for job-seekers. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of jobs will be required to support the productions of some of the most expensive motion pictures in the world.
"They're going to be competing for the top budget films of the year, $150-$200 million dollar films," said Forshee.
He said a local jobs firm, Future Staff, is already accepting resumes in anticipation of positions coming open at Pinewood Studios. Anyone interested in being considered for one of those jobs should upload their resume via the website.
The first motion picture has not been officially announced for Pinewood Atlanta, though Forshee said that film is already in the works and could begin production any week.
