DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Douglas County home was destroyed by a fire Friday morning.

Fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. on Landmark Drive in the Slater Mill Subdivision.

It took twelve units, including a ladder truck, to put out the massive blaze.

The fire was so intense at times that the firefighters inside the two-story structure had to be temporarily pulled out. A portion of the second floor collapsed into the first floor during the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but family pets likely perished inside the house.

Fire investigators will enter the home once it is safe to enter, and they will work to determine the cause.
