Suspect named in Tiffany Sessions 1989 cold case

A website dedicated to the missing persons case of Tiffany Sessions, 20, who vanished in 1989 in Gainesville, Florida is reporting that investigators have named a suspect in connection with the suspected abduction and murder of Sessions.

TiffanySessions.com says that a detective with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office has uncovered evidence that links Paul Rowles to Sessions' disappearance.

The suspect was named as the 25th anniversary of Sessions' disappearance approaches. The University of Florida student vanished during a walk near her school on February 9, 1989.

Tiffany Sessions' mother, Hilary, says the evidence is compelling.

"When you see what the sheriff has planned for you, you will be blown away," said Hilary.

Hilary Sessions says she has been called numerous times to identify remains and to provide DNA samples to allow law enforcement agencies across the country to compare to cases involving found remains of 20-year-old women.

She believes this time is different.

"We have a new sheriff in town and she has made it a mission to close all of the cold cases that she inherited and of course Tif is one of those," said Sessions.

For years, Hilary was convinced her daughter may be alive and was abducted from near the University of Florida campus against her will.

She says she has prepared herself for any outcome.

"That's the hardest part. One day I'm... 'She's going to walk in the door' and the next day I might be thinking about 'Oh my gosh, how do I plan her funeral?',"said Sessions.

Suspect Paul Rowles, who is deceased, was a convicted murderer who was paroled from prison in 1985 and lived in Pinellas County before moving to Gainesville in 1988, according to the TiffanySessions.com. The Florida Dept. of Corrections website also lists Rowles as being released from prison in 1985.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office plans to hold a news conference on Thursday about the latest developments in the case.
