ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Local teams loaded up for the future on Wednesday.  National Signing Day marks the first day that college football prospects can officially sign letters-of-intent.

The top area prospect waited until late afternoon to make his decision to sign with Georgia.  Norcross defensive end Lorenzo Carter is ranked as the 18th top player in the nation by 247 Sports.

Georgia announced 20 signees, including a pair of running backs.  Sony Michel from Plantation, Florida, and Nick Chubb from Cedartown.  The Bulldogs also bring in South Carolina prepster Jacob Park, a 6'3", 202 pound quarterback who is already taking classes in the spring semester.

Georgia Tech announced 20 signees, including junior college All-American defensive end Kenderius Whitehead.  He played for Martin Luther King High School and originally signed with North Carolina State in 2012 before playing at Georgia Military College last fall.  Whitehead will have three years of eligibility remaining for Paul Johnson's Yellow Jackets.

Kennesaw State signed its first ever class.  29 players ink letters-of-intent to form the nucleus of the Owls' first team, including QB Jaquez Parks of Class 3-A champion Griffin High School.  Kennesaw State will begin play in the fall of 2015.
