PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A standoff with Prescott Valley police began after a 26-year-old man allegedly threatened his mother with a knife in a fight over Internet service, according to authorities.

The Prescott Valley Police Department said a woman reported on Sunday that her son, Nicholas Lazaris assaulted her at her home in the 7200 block of Galaxy Way over his Internet "not working properly."

The woman reported that her son held a knife to her throat, assaulted and choked her. She also reported being held against her will for four hours when she was able to escape and call for help.

When police arrived, Lazaris was gone.

Investigators returned to the home on Monday to find Lazaris, who refused to surrender.

A few hours into the standoff, the SWAT team was called to help with the arrest and a search warrant was served at about 9:45 p.m. Monday.

Prescott Valley police said Lazaris came out of the house about 11 p.m. and tried to flee but was caught with the help of a police canine.

He was booked into Yavapai County Jail on multiple domestic violence charges as well as drug charges.
