Indian duo signs for second chance

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two Albany High Indians say they're getting a second chance.

Offensive linemen Launce Holmes and Carondon Lumpkin signed with prep school Atlanta Sports Academy Tuesday morning.

Both admit they didn't do what they needed to do in the classroom, but say going to ASA will give them a chance to get their grades right and keep their dreams of playing college football alive.

Head coach Felton Williams says he's glad his players are getting another opportunity.

"They had some stumbles late in their high school careers. This is giving them a second opportunity to correct some mistakes they have made along the way," says Williams. "I think it speaks volumes for them that having that second opportunity to kind of correct some errors they might have made."

Signing with ASA is not only about the grades they say, but also about getting prepared for the next level.

"I think it will do a lot because the school has sent good players off to good colleges," says Lumpkin. "I know that they will transfer me and get me where they want me to be."

It's a great school that I can go to get my grades better, then transfer to a different college," says Holmes.
