ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Monday, former Atlanta Public Schools human resources director Millicent Few pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in the case.

Few's plea is a pretty big deal for the prosecution as she now becomes the state's most valuable witness.

She's one of the only witnesses who was in the inner circle of former APS Superintendent Beverly Hall.

Few stated she observed Hall commit a crime by ordering the destruction of internal investigative reports, which concluded "a substantial likelihood that cheating occurred" during the summer 2009 Deerwood Academy CRCT.

"We applaud the courage displayed by Ms. Few for not only pleading guilty, agreeing to serve as a witness for the state, but also for providing key information regarding the operation of this conspiracy to rob our children of their basic right to a quality education," said Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard.

Richard Deane, of Jones Day and lead defense counsel for Hall, issued the following statement:

"We have heard through news accounts that Millicent Few has resolved the felony conspiracy and false statement charges against her by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor, paying $800 restitution, and agreeing to perform community service. This does not change Dr. Hall's resolve to continue to fight the charges against her. She is presumed innocent and continues to look forward to her day in court."

Under the terms of her agreement, Few was sentenced to 12 months on probation and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service, testify truthfully when called as a witness, and pay $800 in restitution to the Atlanta Public Schools. She must also submit a letter of apology to the court.
