Police impersonator targets Dunwoody hotel

Posted: Updated:

Dunwoody police hope the public can help identify a man who poses as a police officer to eat free at a local hotel.

The man most recently entered the Staybridge Suites on Feb. 14 in search of a free breakfast.

"It makes us fear that he's using that fake badge to portray himself as police somewhere else. And possible committing other crimes," said Officer Tim Fecht.

Police are also concerned about the man's violent nature. In December when one of hotel managers asked him to leave he attacked her.

"He got irate and violent towards her and threw hot liquid on her face," said Fecht. "It seems like he's going to pretty extreme measures in order to get free food."

The man took off on foot, so detectives believe he lives nearby.

Rachel Lichtiger also lives near the hotel. She's hopeful someone will recognize the cop impersonator and turn him in before he steps up his crime spree.

"I think it would take community effort to stop it. And he's doing it perhaps there are others doing it as well," said Lichtiger.
