ATLANTA (AP) -

Three north Georgia men are accused of trying to buy explosives that authorities say they planned to use to attack government targets.

Brian Edward Cannon, 36, and Cory Robert Williamson, 28, appeared in federal court in Rome Friday for a detention hearing. Both were denied bond.

Terry Eugene Peace, 45, is due for his first court appearance Monday.

According to a sworn statement from an FBI agent, the men talked in online chat rooms about sabotaging infrastructure.

Authorities say the three were arrested Feb. 15 at a meeting they had set up to buy explosives from a man who turned out to be a confidential law enforcement source.

The three face charges of conspiring to receive and possess firearms, specifically pipe bombs and thermite grenades.
