A young mother and business owner is recovering at Grady Hospital after someone shot her in the chest, with her 9-year-old daughter watching just feet away.
Atlanta police are searching for the person who shot 30-year-old Lamiracle Taylor outside her nail salon, Touch Up Style Bar, in southwest Atlanta just before midnight on Saturday.
Taylor's sister, Portia, spoke exclusively to CBS Atlanta and said she is in stable condition, but it has been a rough 24 hours. "We've come to learn that she was shot in the chest one centimeter away from her main artery," Portia Taylor said. "She suffered a lot of blood loss. She had blood transfusions last night."
Taylor says her sister's 9-year-old daughter saw the shooting, as her mother told her to run inside her nail salon on Lakewood Avenue and lock the door.
A passerby saw Taylor injured in the parking lot and dropped her off at a nearby BP gas station, where 911 was called.
Taylor's family told CBS Atlanta the shooter is Lamiracle Taylor's boyfriend and that they've informed detectives who he is. Atlanta police have not yet confirmed the name of that man.
Portia Taylor said she and her family were inconsolable after the shooting. "For anyone to be able to shoot anyone and especially in front of their business, in front of their child, just out of anger or whatever may have been going through your head, my sister did not ask for this," she said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
