Troopers use PIT maneuver on stolen car to stop driver on I-20

Posted: Updated:

Four occupants of a stolen car were arrested Friday morning after fleeing local law enforcement officers on I-20.

Officers tracked a stolen red Chevrolet Camaro entering Rockdale County on I-20 eastbound during the early morning hours. Law enforcement officers attempted to stop the vehicle. It would not pull over. This is when a Georgia State Patrol trooper used the PIT maneuver on the car, causing it to slam into the median wall just before West Avenue SW exit.

The driver fled the vehicle and crossed the barrier wall into a nearby industrial park. A number of local agencies including Rockdale County sheriff deputies searched the business area for the driver who was later found and arrested.

Three passengers who were in the Camaro at the time the PIT maneuver was used on the vehicle were also arrested. The car was reported stolen out of Clayton County. All four suspects were turned over to DeKalb County for charges according to GSP.
