A 27-year-old camera assistant killed by a train during a movie shoot in southeast Georgia was remembered by her colleagues on Oscar night.
Hundreds of people attended a memorial service for Sarah Elizabeth Jones on Sunday at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. In Savannah, dozens more film industry workers remembered Jones during an Oscar-viewing party, WSAV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cncUSg ).
Jones was killed and seven film crew members were injured in the Feb. 20 train collision outside Savannah during shooting for "Midnight Rider," a film based on the life of singer Gregg Allman.
Thousands of people had signed petitions asking for Jones to be included in the "In Memoriam" segment during the Oscars. That didn't happen, but an onscreen banner with her name and photo was shown during the broadcast.
