A metro Atlanta doctor has been arrested in connection with an illegal prescription drug ring.
According to a representative from the Department of Justice, 49-year-old Sanjay Sinha, of Woodstock, is being charged in a seven count federal indictment with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and hydrocodone.
Authorities say Sinha developed relationships with several other doctors, who were also arrested, and distributed the drugs illegally.
"Prescription drug abuse is a troubling problem in this county," said U.S. Attorney Gregory Davis. "This office along with our law enforcement partners will continue to investigate and bring to justice those individuals who would illegally distribute highly addictive painkillers."
Sinha was arrested in Atlanta and made his first appearance on March 3.
