ATLANTA (CBS46) -

All northbound lanes of I-85 at Sylvan Road in Fulton County were blocked for several hours after a pedestrian was struck by a car.

According to Atlanta police, the woman, identified as Joresa Critten, 22, of Stone Mountain, jumped from a moving car and was hit. Georgia State Patrol did not confirm that.

GSP said the person was on the roadway and was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. There is no vehicle description at this point.

The coroner was dispatched as reported earlier, but the victim is alive and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition with head and leg injuries, according to police.

At this time GSP is treating this as a hit and run, with assistance from the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.

More details will be posted as they become available. GSP is investigating.

The roadway has since been reopened.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident should call GSP at 404-624-6077.
