Lawmaker: Georgians are buying electric vehicles for free

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A bill passed by the Georgia House of Representatives would kill a high dollar tax credit that Republican State Representative Chuck Martin said allows Georgians to lease electric vehicles for free.

The tax incentive, which began in 1998, allows buyers of zero-emission vehicles to take up to a $5,000 tax credit.

Drivers and proponents of alternative fuel vehicles believe cutting the credit would be bad for Georgia's environment and economy.

Do you think it's government waste or worth it?
