Prom dresses for $30

DULUTH, GA (CBS46) -

It's prom season, and for many parents, that means shelling out big bucks for their daughter's gown. However, a local radio station is working to make sure every young woman can afford to go.

"Gown Town", sponsored by Q100, is offering high school girls more than 700 dresses for just $30. The gowns are new or gently-worn.

"We have dresses for every size and shape and in every color," said Cassie Young, Q100 social media director. Station listeners donated the gowns.

Proceeds will benefit the Eating Disorders Information Network, an organization that raises awareness and works toward the prevention of eating disorders.

Each shopper will have only 15 minutes to try up to three dresses.

"Shoppers should wear a sports bra and shorts, since dressing room lines can be long," said Young.

"Gown Town" begins at noon, Sunday, March 9 at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth. You'll find them on the second level, right outside of Macy's. Arrive early.
