Attempted abduction in Roswell

ROSWELL, GA (CBS46) -

Roswell police are investigating an attempted abduction.

Officers said a 12-year-old girl was walking to the bus stop along Old Holcomb Bridge Road at 7:40 a.m. The girl told police a car pulled out of a nearby daycare and followed her. She said the driver demanded she get in the car.

Police said she did exactly the right thing and backed up in the opposite direction, so the man couldn't get her. He drove off.

A woman who witnessed what happened walked the girl to the school bus stop and waited with her. The woman told the driver about the incident. When they arrived at school the driver alerted police.

Officers do not know the identity of the good Samaritan, and would like to talk with her to get a better description of the man.

The girl described him as in his 30s with short hair. He was driving an older model black four-door Honda with a red sticker near the gas tank.

Officers have increased patrols through the area. They want parents to stay with their kids at the bus stop on Monday.
