Giant oak tree falls on NE Atlanta home

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Metro-Atlanta is notorious for giant oak trees crashing down in all kinds of severe weather.

On Wednesday heavy winds brought a water oak tree down. A limb broke through a window of the living room crushing the couch and breaking the coffee table.

"I thought it was pretty crazy there was a tree on the house," said Max Calder, who is renting the home on the corner of Hosea Williams Drive and Rogers Street Northeast.

Calder said his next door neighbor is an arborist and told him a few days ago the tree looked dangerous.

The entire center core of the base of the tree was rotten.

The tree is on city property and we are told by Calder they will be out Thursday morning to begin to remove it from the home.

No one was injured.
