A chain-reaction traffic accident caused a tractor-trailer to catch fire Thursday afternoon in Douglas County.
The accident occurred along Interstate 20 at Lee Road at Exit 41. The eastbound lanes on I-20 were closed for much of Thursday afternoon and evening.
According to a representative from Georgia State Patrol and Douglas County, a tractor-trailer was slowing down in the right lane for a weigh station when another trailer rear-ended the truck in front of it.
The accident set off a chain reaction which involved four total tractor-trailers.
The driver of one of the trailers had to be removed from the truck by nine people after it caught fire.
The driver of the truck that caught fire was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where he is in serious, but stable condition according to authorities.
