JONESBORO, GA (CBS46) -

A toy gun was found on campus at a school in Clayton County Friday.

According to a representative from Clayton County Schools, the gun was found at Mt. Zion High School in Jonesboro.

In a note to parents and students, the school district said a student was detained and arrested just before classes dismissed Friday for being in possession of the unloaded, toy pistol.

The school was briefly locked down during the incident.

"We don't feel like it's an overreaction (to go on lock down)," said Clayton County Schools Police Chief Clarence Cox, III.  "When someone tells us there's a gun on our campus, we don't have time to determine if its real or not. We treat all of them as if they are real."

According to a Clayton County schools spokeswoman, the incident marks the fifth time in 15 days since Feb. 28 that a gun, real or toy, has been confiscated from a county middle or high school campus.
