Golf cart, golfers aid PCSO in arrest of suspect

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pinal County Sheriff'sOffice uses a golf cart to help arrest a San Tan Valley man for back childsupport payments.

According to a PCSO release onMarch 12, a woman informed the department that her ex-husband allegedly plannedto leave town when he received his tax return. An earlier warrant had been issued for the suspect, identified asPatrick G. Moloney, by a judge in Maricopa County Superior Court for failure topay child support, according to the PCSO release.

On March 13, PCSO deputiesarrived at on Moloney's last known address in the 30300 block of N. Sunray andfound him smoking in the garage.  Accordingto deputies Moloney closed the garage door and went into the house, theyknocked at the door and were told by another resident inside the home thatMoloney had run out the back of the house and onto a golf course.

Employees from the JohnsonRanch Golf Course offered the use of a golf cart to pursue the suspect,according to deputies.  They began theirsearch at the 18th hole and found Moloney out of breath at the 1st hole,deputies said golfers along the way provided information on his whereabouts ashe ran past them. 

Moloney is currently bookedinto the Pinal County Jail for his outstanding Maricopa County Superior Courtwarrant, for failure to pay child support.
