Grady HS to forfeit football games after address fraud by players

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Grady High School will have to forfeit football games, among other penalties, as a result of address fraud committed by football players at the school.

The Georgia High School Association informed Grady they would have to forfeit all football wins from the 2013 season.

The school will also be banned from post-season play in 2014 and was charged a $1,000 fine.

Atlanta Public Schools superintendent Erroll Davis discussed the findings of the address fraud earlier in March.

The superintendent said football players used fraudulent addresses in order to attend and play for the high school.

"There are 58 players on the football team and 14 have fraudulent addresses. That is almost a quarter of the football team," said Davis.

The Georgia High School Association said they will conduct a separate investigation, and additional penalties are possible.

Personnel discipline is expected later this week.
