Man convicted in cold case rapes to be sentenced

ATLANTA (AP) -

Sentencing has been scheduled for a man convicted in a series of rapes in the late 1980s.

Prosecutors say 63-year-old Daniel Wade, known as the 'Maintenance Man,' is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court. He was found guilty of a number of charges Friday.

Wade, who was already convicted of robbery, was found guilty of raping five women between the ages of 10 and 64 between 1986 and 1987. Authorities have said in some cases, Wade posed as a maintenance man to gain entry into the victims' homes along the I-85 corridor in northeast Atlanta.

A cold case unit revisited the case in 2007 and linked DNA from all five victims to a single suspect. Wade was identified as the suspect in March of 2011.
