Football tryouts for Kennesaw State students

KENNESAW, GA (CBS46) -

On Saturday, current Kennesaw State University students get a shot at joining the school's first football team.

KSU officials expect more than 100 hopefuls at the school's sports and recreation park for tryouts, which will include running the 40-yard dash, an agility test and group drills.

Students say the new football team puts the school on the map.

"I think it will definitely make us known in the state of Georgia because right now whenever I tell people I go to KSU not everyone knows where it is," said sophomore Quin Hundertmark.

Fellow sophomore Ryan Aitkin agrees. "Now that we're getting a football team we're going to be able to hang with people like Georgia (Bulldogs). It might take a few years though," said Aitkin.

Those selected will join the 29 recruits who signed letters of intent for KSU in February.

The team's first home game is scheduled for September 2015.
