Atlanta police have released a sketch of the man they said tried to take a 12-year-old girl from a bus stop.
They're asking the public for help identifying the man.
Officer John Chafee said the attempted kidnapping happened March 4 around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Jonesboro and Constitution Roads in SE Atlanta. They believe this is an isolated incident.
Police said the girl told them a man pulled up in a white box truck and told the girl to get into the truck. The girl refused, and the man exited the truck and told her to get inside. Moments later, the girl ran home and the man drove away.
"We want to encourage parents to do the right thing and talk to their children about the dangers of strangers," Chafee told CBS46 reporter Donna Rapado. "About who they're supposed to go with. If someone else is picking them up from school or anything different, let them know about that."
The girl described the man as thin and white, about 60 years old, 5' 10" to 6' tall, with blue eyes, brown and gray hair and a gray goatee or beard.
She said he was in a white box truck with no markings or letters, and papers were all over the dashboard.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
