Owner of East Texas machining company dies in FL plane crash

PALATKA, FL (KLTV) - The owner of an East Texas machining company died from injuries he suffered in a plane crash in Palatka, FL on Friday evening.

A Florida Highway Patrol representative confirmed that 72-year-old Malcolm P. Clevenstine, a Florida resident, suffered critical injuries when the single-engine Cessna aircraft that he was riding in crashed near Kay Larkin Airport on Friday morning. Clevenstine was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Clevenstine was the owner, president and CEO of Warfab Field Machining and Erection Corporation, which is based in Hallsville. The company employs about 300 people. Clevenstine also owned Heavy Equipment and Steel Consulting, LLC in Florida.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.
