Rescuers search for survivors of small plane crash

BRUNSWICK, GA (AP) -

Rescuers are searching for survivors of areported small-plane crash near Brunswick.

The Coast Guard said in a news release Monday nightthat a twin-engine plane carrying two people disappeared from radar earlier inthe day. The release said residents in the area heard what sounded like a crashnear Grant Creek on Mackay River, east of Golden Isles Aviation in St. SimonsIsland.

The release said Coast Guard, local sheriff'sofficials and crews from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported"multiple debris fields consistent with a small plane crash" but havenot yet located the passengers.

Coast Guard officials have suspended their searchuntil Tuesday morning.

Maj. Stephen Adams of the Natural Resources department'slaw enforcement division said crews from the department were still searchinglate Monday.
