Woman assaulted, robbed near VCU campus

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

VCU Police have stepped up patrols after an assault and robbery that happened near campus Monday night.

A woman said she was walking in the 1000 block of W. Franklin St. around 10 p.m. when a man walking with three females grabbed her by her hair pulling to her the ground without saying a word. The woman told the suspects to take her backpack and the suspects were last seen running westbound on Franklin Street toward Ryland Street.  

The victim describes the first suspect as a black male, approximately 6'1" in height.  He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants and dark shoes.  

Richmond Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
