CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Community members will gather outside of the Second District Police Station on Fulton Avenue Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to rally for a Commander who is giving up his post.

On Monday, Commander Keith Sulzer announced he was going to go back to work as a Captain. He told 19 Action News that the move was, "what's best for the city and what's best for me."

Sulzer had been popular with neighborhood groups for his hands on attention to crime problems in his area - the city's near west side. Activists are now urging city leaders of Cleveland to not accept his resignation. Petitions in support of Sulzer have also been formed.

Commander Thomas Stacho, who is currently assigned as Commander of Communications and Property, will assume command of the Second District.
