An overnight fire in SE Atlanta damages 17 police motorcycles.
Sparks flew when an officer attempted to start up his motorcycle according to Atlanta police. As the officer grabbed a fire extinguisher, flames spread to other bikes. That's when the officer called the fire department.
Atlanta Fire Rescue doused the flames, but not before the fire damaged other bikes.
The police motorcycles are housed in a large, covered shelter behind the Atlanta Police Academy on Southside Parkway SE in Atlanta. The facility houses approximately 50 motorcycles according to Atlanta police.
