Grass fires break-out along Langford Parkway

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The Atlanta Fire Department and East Point Fire were busy this afternoon putting out six grass fires that started around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

"The largest was approximately 100 feet by 300 feet, the rest were smaller in size," Captain Chris Wessels said. "I don't think they were close enough for the wind to be a factor to spread from fire to fire. But, it played a factor in each fire getting larger. Right, now we have no way of telling what started the fires."

The fires are under investigation. Wessels said they do not appear to be suspicious.

"We have had a lot of rain, but things still haven't started to bloom," Wessels said. "Even though we've had a lot of rain, things are still dry out there."

No homes or businesses were damaged by the fire. Officials said with low humidity, high winds, and temperatures on the rise. It is a lot easier this time of year for fires to start.
