TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Last week we told you about a woman battling cancer with plumbing problems so bad inside her home she and her family had to use buckets for the restroom.

After that story aired our phones started ringing. Now thanks to your generosity the family can start living a normal life again.

"The smell. The smell was so horrible and all of it is all cleaned up; all the muck, all the urine. There is nothing there anymore and it's livable, definitely livable, tolerable and we have T and J rooter to thank for that," said Heather Sass, who lives in the home with her mother.

Saturday nearly a dozen employees showed up on their own time and own dime, with truck loads of equipment.  They spent six hours trying to fix these pipes that caused massive sewage backups throughout this house.

Now Sass says her family can focus on her mother Debbie, who's battling her second type of cancer.

Debbie was too ill Monday to personally say thank you.

"It's amazing to see my mom feel a little bit of peace," said her daughter.

A peace that was impossible to have with urine soaked floors and tub filled with so much sewage it was too graphic to even show.

"We can definitely use everything now. Everything drains perfectly we have no problems with anything backing up the floors are dry now. The floor is drying up. Nothing is coming from underneath the toilet," said Sass.

The floors are clean now but still in need of repair.  Sass says she is forever grateful for the way the community has embraced her family.

"My mom can be at peace. My mom can feel better. Sleep a little better. And have one less worry on her plate," said Sass.
