TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Federal, state and tribal groups are teaming up for the Southwest Wildfire Awareness week.

The focus of the week is to increase awareness and promote actions to reduce the risk from wildfire to homes and communities.

The theme for 2014 is 'Where we live, how we live, live with wildfire.'  Each day during Wildfire Awareness week is a new topic for being wildfire wise.

The message for today, never parking a vehicle over dead grass. According to the National Park Service it is very easy for a catalytic converter to start a fire when it is close to the grass.

NPS officials also are pushing campers to make sure that their campfires are completely out before leaving a campsite.

"Fire is a year-long part of living in here in Arizona, as we can have fires 12 months out of the year," said Michelle Fidler, from the National Park Service.  "Now though is when we start to see increased fire activity."

The message NPS officials want to get across is 'be prepared and aware'.
