McDonough Police Department's use of radar guns suspended

MCDONOUGH, GA (CBS46) -

The McDonough Police Department is not allowed to use police radar guns for the remainder of the year.

In a letter from the Department of Public Safety, McDonough police is accused of improper use of the devices.

According to the letter, the DPS investigating McDonough police in January 2014, and found that the department used the radar guns on roads not approved for usage, and issued tickets on the same roads for more than 10 years.

McDonough police can re-apply for a permit to use radar guns in January 2015.
