Georgia & Georgia Tech grads make first appearance at The Masters

Posted: Updated:

The anticipation for The Masters tournament is building. Practice rounds are complete and players are looking to the first tee Thursday. Whether you're a veteran or a new comer, players with Georgia ties said each year is different and exciting.

You know their names: veteran players like Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar and former Masters champion Bubba Watson.  Two names to listen for: first-timers Harris English from Georgia and Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech. The two practiced together Wednesday morning and talked to CBS46 about how they're handling the excitement and the pressure.

"It's just the excitement of everyone being here is just amazing, everybody is just pinching themselves to be here. Hopefully I will have had the 'ah ha' moments and the first tee will be special, but hopefully I can just focus on playing the golf course after. It's a handful," Castro said.

"I think that's probably the biggest thing about this tournament is you gotta control your emotions because I think everybody gets nervous, everybody's going to be excited so you've got to control it and act like this is just another event. Going to school two hours away, this is a dream come true and having a lot of those friends coming, friends and coaches, it's going to be awesome," English said.

The two joked having so many Georgia and Georgia Tech players represented at The Masters is a pretty good recruiting tool for the schools.
