Posted: Updated:

Tens of thousands of people are expected in downtown Kennesaw Saturday and Sunday for the 38th annual Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival.

The normally quiet downtown streets will be transformed into one of the largest arts and crafts shows in North Georgia, featuring 250 vendors, free local entertainment, festival foods and a Kids Zone filled with inflatables. Students from 17 Kennesaw-area schools will provide entertainment.

At the center of the festivities will be the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, which showcases Kennesaw's rich heritage and its important role in the war.

The festival begins with a parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday featuring five marching bands. Admission is free of charge. Click here for more information.
