Authorities searching for suspect in Troup County chase

LAGRANGE, GA (CBS46) -

Officials in Troup County are searching for a person after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on Thursday.

Authorities in Alabama were searching for a murder suspect and alerted police in LaGrange, GA the vehicle may be in the area.

After police spotted what they thought was the vehicle, the suspects sped away from police and a chase ensued.

The chase ended in a crash on Interstate 85 South near Kia Boulevard.

Four people ran from the SUV and two were later captured.

At around 5:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Robert Taylor Road in reference to a 911 call reporting suspicious person that walked out of the woods behind a residence.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who said the man was all dirty wearing a black shirt and pants and he left walking down Robert Taylor Road.

Deputies set up a small perimeter and saw a man who was a believed to be one of the suspects from the chase.

After being given several verbal commands to stop running, the deputies chased the suspect on foot. Alan Brice Wood was then apprehended and taken into custody.

Wood also had a violation of probation superior warrant for his arrest.

The fourth suspect from the chase has not been identified.

It turned out the murder suspect was not in the SUV.

Thomas Starkey, the suspect wanted for the murder in Lanett, has been apprehended by Chamber County authorities and booked in the Chambers County Jail.
