Forum informs public on fighting human trafficking

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

There's a push to get more people involved with fighting human trafficking across Metro-Atlanta.

Gwinnett County's Human Relations Commission is conducting a series of forms to address the issue of these sex crimes that especially involve children.

Metro-Atlanta is one of the biggest hubs for human trafficking in the U.S.

The commission conducted a meeting Thursday night at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Lilburn. Concerned citizens who attended learned how to identify and report human trafficking.

"Every police department has a unit that scares off human trafficking," said Donald Sequeira, chairman of the Human Relations Commission. "The good thing is especially in the Gwinnett County police department, you can just call on suspicion."

The next forum will be held June 19 in Suwanee.
