KSU hosting forum after art controversy

Posted: Updated:

Kennesaw State University will host a forum after a recent controversy about a piece in a new art museum on campus.

School officials initially rejected an Atlanta artist's display that included words from a 19th-century letter by Georgia novelist Corra Harris about the lynching of a black man. The decision inspired protests and complaints of censorship.

The piece later was reinstalled for the opening of the Zuckerman Museum of Art in March.

A Kennesaw State statement says a forum is now planned to address Harris' writings and the controversy. It will feature experts on art, history and other areas with time for audience questions.

The panel is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday at the school's social sciences auditorium.
