2 people displaced in midtown house fire

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A malfunctioning dryer started a house fire Friday night in the 3400 block of East 27th Street, displacing two people, according to Tucson Fire Department PIO Chris Jurvig.

Neighbors called TFD reporting smoke and flames coming from the back and side of a home on the block. The residents were able to escape the home before firefighters arrived.

Responding crews found multiple flames in different rooms in the house and attic space, according to Sgt. Jurvig. Ten units and 25 fire fighter responded-

Authorities determined the fire was started by an electric dryer malfunctioning in the laundry area. The damages are estimated to be $75,000.

Red Cross will be assisting the two people who were displaced by the fire.
