ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Alpharetta-based HoneyBaked Ham of Georgia donated nearly 500 meals to metro-Atlanta families Tuesday through the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The donation is part of the company's mission to provide one million meals this spring in an effort to combat hunger alongside Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief organization.

"We'll be able to take these hams and provide 500 meals for families with our partner agency Caring for Others," said Kyle Waide of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Each half-ham can feed 15-20 people, according to Jennifer Chasteen, a HoneyBaked Ham spokeswoman.

"The hope is that we will be providing not only Easter dinner for some families that are in need, but also some great leftovers," Chasteen said.
